Micro-stutter in games and popping/crackling audio (high DPC latency)
High Deferred Procedure Call (DPC) latency caused by poorly optimized drivers delays real-time audio and frame rendering pipelines.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.
Common Symptoms & Tells
- Audio pops, crackles, or drops out when listening to music or gaming
- Micro-stutters and sudden FPS hitching despite high average framerate
- Occurs whenever moving mouse or during network file transfer
Interactive Fix Checklist
0 of 4 steps completedRun LatencyMon to identify offending driver
Download LatencyMon, click green Play button, reproduce the audio glitch, and check Drivers tab. Usually nvlddmkm.sys, ndis.sys, or wdf01000.sys.
Enable MSI (Message Signaled-Based Interrupts) for GPU
Download 'MSI Utility v3', check the box for your graphics card, set interrupt priority to High, and click Apply.
Disable unused onboard audio controllers in BIOS
If using a dedicated USB DAC or headset, disable onboard Realtek audio and AMD/Nvidia High Definition Audio controllers in Device Manager.
Disable network power throttling and green ethernet
In network adapter advanced properties, turn off Energy Efficient Ethernet and Advanced EEE.
