Shut down the PC, turn off the power supply rocker switch (O), and unplug the AC power cord from the wall outlet. Press the front power button once while unplugged to discharge residual capacitor energy before touching any internal components.
Place laptop on a hard, flat, rigid surface
Always operate gaming laptops on a desk, wooden lap desk, or hard tray. Soft bedding compresses under the rubber feet and blocks the bottom intake vents completely.
Elevate the rear laptop feet by 1-2 inches
Prop the rear rubber feet of the laptop up by one inch using small rubber stands, bottle caps, or an angled stand. This lowers CPU and temperatures by 5C to 8C by doubling intake air volume.
Clean lint and pet hair from internal heatsink fins
Laptops used on beds ingest high volumes of blanket fibers and dust. Remove the bottom chassis cover and use compressed air to blast lint out through the copper exhaust fins. SAFETY: Hold the fan blades still with a finger or non-conductive tool while spraying compressed air. Allowing fans to free-spin rapidly can burn out bearings and generate reverse voltage back into the motherboard fan header.
