Laptop wakes up inside laptop sleeve or backpack, fans scream at 100%, and battery is completely drained.

Press Win+R, type 'powercfg.cpl' and press Enter. Click 'Choose what closing the lid does' on the left sidebar. Set 'When I close the lid:' to 'Hibernate' for both On Battery and Plugged In.
Disable Network Connectivity in Standby
Open Windows Settings -> System -> Power & battery. Under 'Network connectivity in standby', set to 'Never' (or run in Admin terminal: 'powercfg /setdcvalueindex scheme_current sub_none F15ADD7D-0D7D-4863-A7D0-84E73B719971 0').
Check sleep study logs for wake culprits
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: 'powercfg /sleepstudy'. Open the generated HTML file in your browser to inspect which USB device, Bluetooth radio, or background app triggered the wake event.
