Black screen and no POST following a BIOS update
A failed, interrupted, or corrupt firmware flash leaves the motherboard unable to execute Power-On Self-Test.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.

Shut down the PC, switch off the power supply rocker switch (O), and unplug the AC power cord from the wall. Press and hold the chassis power button for 5 seconds while unplugged to drain all residual capacitor energy before touching any internal hardware.
Use Motherboard USB BIOS Flashback
Download manufacturer on another computer. Rename it according to vendor specifications (e.g., ASUS.CAP, MSI.ROM). Copy to a FAT32 USB drive, insert into dedicated Flashback port, and press button for 3 seconds. CRITICAL: Never turn off, reset, or unplug the PC while the update is flashing. A power interruption during EEPROM write will corrupt the firmware and brick the motherboard.
Switch to Dual BIOS backup chip (if equipped)
If your motherboard has a physical switch on the board, toggle to BIOS_B to boot from the factory backup chip.
Perform extended hard CMOS discharge
Disconnect all power cords, remove the CR2032 battery, hold down chassis power button for 60 seconds, and leave disconnected for 30 minutes.
Contact manufacturer RMA if board lacks Flashback
If the board lacks hardware Flashback and the primary EEPROM chip is corrupted, the chip requires an external SPI programmer (CH341A) or board RMA. CRITICAL: Never turn off, reset, or unplug the PC while the update is flashing. A power interruption during EEPROM write will corrupt the firmware and brick the motherboard.
