Front panel power button broken or disconnected
The chassis momentary power switch is broken, internally shorted, or disconnected from the motherboard front panel pin block.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.
Common Symptoms & Tells
- Pressing power button feels spongy or doesn't click
- PC turns on when using motherboard onboard start button but not case button
- System turns on only when holding button at a specific angle

Consult motherboard manual for front panel pinout (JFP1). Ensure the 2-pin POWER SW connector is firmly seated on pins 6 and 8.
Jump the power pins directly
Carefully touch a flathead metal screwdriver across the two PWR_SW pins. If the system turns on immediately, the case button or wiring is defective. SAFETY: Bridge ONLY the two PWR_SW pins. Never touch 12V RGB headers, USB headers, or audio pins, as shorting voltage rails will permanently damage the motherboard.
Swap with Reset Switch as temporary fix
Connect the case's 2-pin RESET SW connector to the PWR_SW header pins. Use the smaller reset button to turn the PC on and off.
