Webcam LED turns on but camera displays black screen
The integrated or USB webcam video stream is blocked by Windows privacy switches, antivirus shields, or corrupted UVC drivers.

Enable Camera Privacy permissions in Windows Settings
Go to Settings → Privacy & security → Camera. Ensure 'Camera access' is turned ON, and 'Let apps access your camera' is enabled for your target apps.
Disable third-party antivirus webcam protection
Antivirus suites (Kaspersky, Bitdefender, ESET) feature 'Webcam Protection' modules that silently block unauthorized processes from accessing video streams.
Roll back or reinstall USB Video Device driver
In Device Manager → Cameras, right-click the webcam → Uninstall device → restart PC to reload the clean Microsoft UVC driver.
