Go to Settings → Search → Searching Windows → Excluded Folders. Add large directories such as node_modules, git repos, virtual machines, and temp caches.
Run Windows Search Troubleshooter
Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Search and Indexing → run the automated fix.
Rebuild the search catalog index
Open Control Panel → Indexing Options → Advanced → click 'Rebuild'. This clears fragmented and corrupted search database files.
Restart the Windows Search service
