Windows Update automatically overwrites newer GPU drivers
Windows Update repeatedly replaces clean Nvidia or AMD display drivers with outdated generic versions, breaking multi-monitor setups and control panels.

Use Microsoft 'Show or Hide Updates' troubleshooter (wushowhide)
Download the official 'wushowhide.diagcab' tool from Microsoft, run it, select 'Hide updates', and check the pending driver update to block it permanently.
Configure Group Policy to block driver updates
In gpedit.msc (Pro/Enterprise editions), go to Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Windows Update → Manage updates offered from Windows Update → Enable 'Do not include drivers with Windows Updates'.
Reinstall latest vendor driver package
Reinstall the latest official driver from GeForce Experience, Nvidia app, or AMD Adrenalin.
